Peter, a single man, shared his thoughts on why he's fed up with dating. He said he isn't bitter after his divorce and it's not his intention to sound like he's whining. "Just thought I would give you a different and honest perspective from a man," Peter emailed.
He wrote, "I think there are a lot of men like me who are 'worn out' dating women after a lengthy and very expensive divorce! I am tired of getting dressed in a suit, driving my date to a fine, expensive restaurant, acting as a doorman and paying for it all only to be granted a kiss on the cheek at the end of the evening."

As often happens, one person's story in this newsletter strikes a chord with someone else who has had a similar experience. Such was the case with Rich's story of two weeks ago. He dated a widow, she professed her love, he fell in love, it was a storybook romance--and then unknown to him, she went on Match.com to date other men.

As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, a woman named Victoria came to my Dana Point, Ca. deli and purchased a copy of my Finding Love After 50. How to Begin. Where to Go. What to Do book. She asked me to inscribe it to Sir Paul McCartney.
Victoria said she felt the book would help him-as it had helped her when she went through a tough divorce-to cope better during his current divorce from actress Heather Mills.
I was pretty darned surprised. I picked up my pen. I can usually knock out a sentence or two without much thought when personalizing a book for someone. But what the heck do you write to Paul McCartney? You don't say something dumb like, "I enjoy your music," he's heard that millions of times.

A woman named Arlene emailed me Wednesday night: "I am in the process of getting divorced and I am not sure when the final court date will occur. I am 62 and had been with my soon to be ex-husband for 38 years. Although with a separation date of August, 2011, I am still hesitant to venture into the dating arena. To say the least I am nervous and a bit frightened to begin to even attempt to date. My husband already tells people he is divorced. Would like a bit of advice."

Bill Ritter, of ABC News.com, published an article on March 13, 2002, titled "Men After Divorce: In Touch With Feelings." (See link below) His findings might surprise a lot of people. Ritter brought together eight men to discuss their post-divorce experiences. The guys Ritter quoted admitted to having difficulty dealing with divorce, far harder than they had anticipated.
