Singles report that life's not bad

By Jennifer Peltz

Note from Tom: The two paragraphs below were only a small part of Jennifer's article.

"When people first become single, they go through a period of grasping at straws, they really want somebody, and then they start to be able to handle the situation differently. ... They start to say, `Wow, being single is not so bad,'" said Tom Blake, the author of two books on dating after 50 and a column available through www.findingloveafter50.com.

"I've interviewed someone who said, `I've been single and unhappy, and I've been married and unhappy, and being single and unhappy is better,'" Blake said.
